Colon Hydrotherapy may also be referred to as colon irrigation or high colonic. These terms are frequently used to describe the cleansing of the large intestine (or colon), from the rectum to the cecum. This is done by slowly infusing warm, filtered, purified water into your colon by way of a disposable rectal nozzle. As the colon begins to fill with this water and the colon muscles begin to expand, a peristaltic response occurs, which signals the body to "release" or eliminate. For the duration of the session, the water is assisting the colon muscles to expand and contract, thereby loosening up waste or accumulated matter and may also be helping to tonify the system.
The colon is an organ/muscle. It measures approximately 3" in diameter and is between 5 1/2' to 6' long. The colon moves matter along through the action of peristalsis or a caterpillar type action. The colon is basically responsible for two activities: 1) elimination of waste and 2) absorption of liquid or water back into the body. The large intestine dehydrates the feces. The colon is the sewer system of the body. The average colon carries anywhere from 5 to 25 meals worth of waste byproducts in it. The average meal is about 1 pound.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD WE ELIMINATE???
AS OFTEN AS YOU EAT!!!
The colon will accommodate - depending on your frame size and the distention and age of the organ -
a lot of bulk. When you think about displacement... what should happen when you eat? Eat 3
meals- eliminate 3 meals (displacement). When the colon is full and you ingest a meal - a meal
should come out. The colon was a garbage can and now we're trying to make it become a trash
compactor!
A healthy body is maintained by proper detoxification and elimination. Health requires eliminating to the maximum. That feeling we identify as "yucky" is due to recycling toxins from the colon back into the body.
The liquids that the colon absorbs are recycled back to two parts of our body -
1) the blood system through the liver and eventually the heart, and
2) the lymphatic system. As a consequence of recycling the toxins, the organs get tired and become less efficient. Poor elimination can be affecting your thinking!
Why clients elect this procedure?
The procedure has been reported to provide assistance with constipation, diarrhea, acute fecal impaction, colitis, diverticula, parasitic infections, atonic colon, bowel stimulation and bowel training in para/quadriplegics, flatulence or bloating, mild hemorrhoids, and intestinal toxemia.
Avoid eating a big meal 2 hours prior to your visit. We don’t want your stomach full and trying to digest while we are infusing water into the colon. Wear comfortable clothes.
The procedure is done with modesty for both the client and technician. A warm cover cloth is provided so that clients always maintain their personal dignity and integrity. The device is designed to be somewhat "self operating”. This means that the client, once properly coached and aware of the procedure, may be in control of their body’s releases. The Technician remains present unless the client prefers a few moments of privacy. Oftentimes this arrangement is helpful for the client to relax, and thereby have a more effective cleanse.
Gentle massaging of the abdomen is helpful to dislodge impacted waste or just to relax the muscles so that more water may be retained. This massage is done intermittently throughout the session. Tips on breathing techniques are offered as well as aromatherapy, and soothing background music which all contribute to a pleasant visit.
